Legal research is the systematic investigation of problems and matters concerned with law. (S.R. MYNENI). Legal Research is a process of identifying information that is necessary for legal decision making.
Black Law Dictionary defines legal research as finding an assembling of authorities that bear on a question of law. legal research is that which deals with principles of law and legal institution. (H.N. Tiwari).
Furthermore, William Pop King states that egal research means finding solutions to legal problems. It is a branch of knowledge that deals with the principles of law and legal institutions.
There are certain characteristics of legal research which are mentioned below: -
- It deals with social and behavioral phenomena.
- It is conducted to discover new legal facts.
- It is done to verify the old legal facts.
- To give solutions to legal programs.
- It is also apt to establish casual connection with various human activities.
